Art Deco streamlined cat doorstop fashioned of copper and brass by Walter Von Nessen and is highly collectible. Von Nessen was born in Germany, studied prior to WWI in Berlin, and designed furniture in Stockholm before emigrating to the United States in 1923 and opening his studio in 1927. He was famous for his ultra-simple design in a series of decorative items for Industrial and household use for the Chase Brass and Copper Company in the 1930s employing plumbing parts and supplies manufactured by Chase into clever objects of mixed metals. This piece is in very good condition with no dings or dents - could use polishing or left with the vintage look. 8 1/2" tall x 5 1/2" wide x 4 1/2 deep.
