Art Deco Carved Butterscotch Bakelite Cat & Dog Chrome & Crystal Inkwell Set

  

You are looking at a fantastic French Art Deco era inkwell. The holder is made of mirror like chrome. The main plate sits on 4 ribbed chrome feet. The pen rest is also chrome. The lidded inkwell is leaded glass (crystal) which is very heavy.

On either side of the inkwell are 2 very detailed sculptures of a cat and dog. These are carved from a one piece of butterscotch color bakelite. The figures have lots of details and include tiny glass eyes.

Each animal have a black nose and red tongue which seems to glued to main body. The dog might have had a tail and so was the cat. You can almost detect personality in these 2 carved figures.

The holder measures 9 1/8" by 4 1/4" deep and 2 7/8 tall. The inkwell is 1 7/8" square and 2 3/8" tall. The set weighs 699 grams before packing. Guaranteed bakelite and tested with simichrome. No chips or cracks to the bakelite and crystal inkwell. There is a tiny nick on one corner of the lid. So small it doesn't show in the pictures. Can be felt when touching with finger.
