BRITISH ART DECO PORTRAIT OIL PAINTING CIRCA 1929. A stunning, original Art Deco oil painting on canvas by noted British artist Helen Margaret MacKenzie. The work is very evocative of the 1920s Art Deco period and depicts the artist in a white dress with a floral bouquet and her cat. A very colourful and vibrant painting in a fine silvered frame. She was born in Scotland and this shows all the attributes of the Scottish School and Colourist tradition.

Oil paint on canvas, image size 30 inches by 25 inches and in excellent condition. Housed in a fine silvered period frame which compliments the painting, 42 inches by 37 inches, in excellent condition.

Born in Elgin, Scotland, MacKenzie studied at the Royal College of Art. She was ROI in 1923, ASWA 1918, SWA 1923. She exhibited at The Glasgow Institute 7, Cooling Galleries 1, Liverpool 1, Manchester 2, Royal Academy 22, Royal Institute of Painters in Oil 46, Society of Women Artists 38.
